“Anguish is severe pain where hopelessness captures the mind, heart, and soul. This complex emtotional state involves extreme unhappiness and suffering.
First comes a sad, fearsome, traumatic event. The pain of anguish is so immense as to hinder clear thinking and problem solving. It can sap our energy and lower motivation.”
And we can witness or actually experience events that cause anguish: Seeing someone taken to a detention camp; losing a job in a closing program; needing healthcare where funds have been cut off. Action, votes, helping those around us, supporting helping programs- hope is so important! And therapy with a trauma-informed therapist can be meaningful. My hope is for you to recognize and have some relief from anguish!
