Once you identify what are the traumatic events for you and which
reactions are trauma symptoms, that can go a long way to helping you
understand and cope. It is always a good idea to check in with a trauma-informed counselor to guide you! Many find it reassuring to realize that they’re spacing out, without remembering those few moments, feeling numb because of too much emotional pain, and having super anxiety can all be normal trauma reactions to abnormal events! We need to limit our exposure to traumatic events unless we cannot. Then feeling physical as well as emotional pain can at least be seen for
what it is. And coping includes intentional thinking, like counting
steps as we go up or down (so as not to be spacing out and trip) and
allowing ideas to flow in and out of our minds without dwelling on them
while driving (letting our eyes circle around the sides and front, keeping
the car behind in sight- being ever so observant). I send you wishes for
peace and happiness!
